Restaurant

By Karen Nagy

Though the menú is small, this artsy cafe has big personality. With paintings depicting quiteño life, a wide variety of board games and cards, and a few cozy tables, Cafe Chiquito is the perfect place to spend a rainy afternoon with friends, sipping chai and eating slices of walnut caramel pie while playing an old German version of Chutes and Ladders or Scrabble. ChiQuito also serves a few tasty sandwiches on focaccia bread: try the roast beef, arugula, and cream cheese, or the toasty mozzarella with pesto and tomato. ChiQuito opens in the afternoon around 2 p.m. and stays open til the crowd leaves, around 10 or 11 p.m. This is the only Guápulo cafe open on Sundays.
